Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit 2009 updated Bowling for Jobs program to give Metro Detroiter’s the opportunity to help thousands in the region secure jobs, while offering affordable family entertainment. The campaign, which will run through March 31, 2009, will raise funds for education, training and career services programs benefiting Southeast Michigan individuals facing barriers to employment. In the past two years of the organizations nearly 90-year history, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has placed more than 2,500 Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county individuals into new jobs and provided education, training and career assistance to thousands more in the region.

“Bowling for jobs is an affordable, fun way for the people of Metro Detroit to come together to help their friends and neighbors find work,” said Lorna G. Utley, President and CEO, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. “This region has one of the highest concentrations of bowlers in the world, so we want to bring together that passion for bowling with Metro Detroit’s compassion for those in need to help local people take their lives in a positive new direction.

For only $10, each bowler will receive five total games of bowling at select bowling centers three on the first visit and two on a subsequent visit. Additionally, bowlers can retrieve a coupon for $1 off the cost of shoe rental by texting the word goodwill to 88202. The mobile coupon
